Medical Director RFDS General Practice (IPHEC)

About the Position
The Medical Director RFDS General Practice will provide leadership and oversight of the clinical functions of the new RFDS training general practice located within the Integrated Primary Health & Education Centre (IPHEC) This role leads clinical governance, safety and quality and medical supervision, training and education.
The successful candidate will play a foundation role in establishing this new state of the art general practice facility.
This role will also ensure the establishment of the general practice service, is in line with best practice primary care models and link seamlessly with the current outreach primary health care services that RFDS SA/NT deliver in outback South Australia.
This is an exceptional clinical leadership opportunity, located where the outback meets the sea, working with the RFDS who first established their base in Port Augusta in 1955, sustaining an unbroken presence for over 70 years.
The intent of the new RFDS General Practice is to establish a dedicated training general practice to support Registrar trainees who have a career mission to become Rural Generalists, provide comprehensive primary care to the community of Port Augusta and support on going General Practice education and continuous professional development for the region.
For this position the successful applicant will:
- Hold current Registration with AHPRA / Medical Board of Australia
- Experienced Country General Practitioner / Rural Generalist with full understanding of the Medicare rebate system
- Experience in supervising accredited ACRRM/RACGP registrars in general practice and familiarity with ACRRM/RACGP training programs
- Demonstrated strong leadership and strategic management skills
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and influence others in responding to change
- Proven ability as a principal of general practice and /or senior leadership within a community-based healthcare organisation
- Experience in mentoring and supporting international medical graduates
- Demonstrated credibility and professional standing, including capacity to effectively engage with broader health sector.
