The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Western Australia (RFDS WA) is seeking a Marketing and Communications Lead with strong technical marketing skills to drive high-quality, integrated communications that support fundraising, partnerships, recruitment and brand reputation.

This role is suited to a marketing professional who enjoys being close to the work and is confident balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You will also play an important people leadership role, supporting and developing a Communications and Marketing Coordinator in a small, high-performing team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Communications and Marketing Manager, you will be based at Jandakot Airport and be responsible for both strategy and execution across RFDS WA’s marketing and communications activities. You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment. You will:

  • Manage and optimise digital channels including website, social media, EDMs and paid campaigns.
  • Plan, produce and govern content to ensure brand consistency, accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Use analytics and insights to track performance, report outcomes and continuously improve campaigns.
  • Create and edit content including written stories, photography and video using Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Provide practical, evidence-based marketing advice to senior leaders and stakeholders.

  • Delegate effectively while remaining hands-on where required.
  • Manage external suppliers and contractors to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Support events, tours and stakeholder engagement, including occasional evenings or weekends.

About You
You bring a strong technical marketing skillset combined with people leadership capability and sound judgement. You will have:

  • Proven experience in a mid-level marketing or communications role with hands-on delivery responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead integrated campaigns from planning through to execution.
  • Strong digital capability across websites (including CMS and SEO), social media, EDM platforms and analytics tools.
  • Confidence using data and insights to inform decisions and improve performance.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to tailor content across audiences and channels.
  • Experience creating and editing content using Adobe Creative Cloud (photo, video and design).
  • Experience across traditional marketing channels such as print, radio or outdoor advertising.
  • Experience coaching or supervising others, with a supportive and development-focused approach.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Confidence engaging senior stakeholders and providing clear, practical marketing advice.

A Day in the Life
One day you may be reviewing campaign performance and refining digital strategy for Flying Doctor Day – the RFDS’s largest annual fundraising campaign. The next might involve filming a staff story in the hangar, editing content for social channels, or coaching the Communications and Marketing Coordinator through a campaign delivery. You will also collaborate with colleagues across Fundraising, Partnerships and People & Culture to ensure RFDS WA’s story is told clearly, accurately and with impact.
