The Organisation
When people talk about the Flying Doctor, thoughts generally turn to red-bellied planes undertaking rescue missions in the Outback. However, the current Victorian story is one that reflects today's challenges for people living in remote and rural communities across the state. While we do still transport people by air and by road, this work is complemented by a range of primary health services that address the most common issues people living in country Victoria face when accessing health care.
About the Role
The Internal Communications Coordinator plays a key role in helping our people stay informed, connected, and engaged. In this role, you’ll support the delivery of clear and consistent communication across the organisation, ensuring employees have the information they need to thrive.
Working with the People & Culture team and leaders across the organisation, you’ll help develop and coordinate communication activities across our internal channels. You’ll contribute to key projects, support change and transformation initiatives, and assist with preparing a wide range of communication materials, from news stories and updates to digital content.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support the development and delivery of internal communication strategies that enhance employee engagement and align with organisational priorities
- Assist in planning and coordinating communication for change and transformation initiatives, ensuring messages are clear, consistent, and appropriate for key stakeholder
- Work collaboratively with People & Culture to create communication materials that promote recruitment activities, employee wellbeing, and organisational culture programs
- Participate in projects that enhance employee engagement and organisational culture
- Assist with external communication needs, if requested. Such support could include preparing organisational updates, drafting key statements, and supporting crisis and issues management communication
- Assist with executive communication activities by preparing messages, drafting content, and helping strengthen the CEO’s external presence across channels such as LinkedIn
- Maintain and update digital platform content, supporting governance processes to ensure it remains an effective and accessible internal communication platform
- Provide communication support to leaders by offering guidance on tone, clarity, and engagement approaches to help strengthen internal messaging
- Work collaboratively with team members to develop an understanding of internal communication best practices.
To be successful, you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism, Change Management or Public Relations, or a related field.
- Experience creating written content such as articles, social posts, newsletters, or university project materials.
- Demonstrated ability to research, synthesise information, and draft clear, concise communication materials.
- Proficiency with digital communication platforms, particularly those used for internal communications.
