About the Role
The Environmental Compliance Coordinator plays a key role in advancing RFDS Victoria’s commitment to sustainability. This position supports the delivery and evaluation of environmental initiatives aligned with the organisation’s Environmental Roadmap. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, the role ensures effective implementation of projects that promote environmental responsibility and resilience, helps embed sustainability into everyday operations, and engages the broader community in RFDS Victoria’s environmental goals.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Respond to and address requests and issues on environmental sustainability matters.
- Assist in maintaining Environmental Management Systems to meet legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Support compliance monitoring with environmental laws, regulations, and project guidelines.
- Under guidance, assist with environmental audits, risk assessments, and improvements to systems and processes.
- Collect, maintain, and report accurate environmental data while supporting the tracking of sustainability targets and initiatives.
- Deliver and support inductions, training sessions, workshops, and awareness activities that promote environmental and sustainability education.
- Share environmental information with staff and stakeholders, following organisational procedures.
- Contribute to research and help prepare materials such as fact sheets, toolkits, and reports.
- Work with internal teams and community partners to support environmental and climate initiatives.
To be successful, you will need:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Policy, Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of two years’ hands-on experience supporting climate risk, sustainability, or environmental initiatives.
- Strong understanding of key environmental sustainability issues.
- Familiarity with applicable environmental legislation, ISO 14001 standards, and other relevant accreditation frameworks.
- Ability to work independently, takes ownership, identify priorities, and drives outcomes with minimal supervision.
- Experience in managing multiple tasks effectively, planning and tracking progress, and using project tools to deliver on time.
