Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides emergency aeromedical and allied health services for people in rural and remote Australia. About the Role
Help bring the story of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) to life in primary schools and communities across Australia. This hands-on role blends education, public engagement, and logistics to spark curiosity and support health awareness through our immersive program.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Delivering and supporting engaging, interactive sessions to school-aged children, including storytelling and health education.
- Setting up and packing down the RFDS simulator and educational display materials (including physical setup and equipment handling).
- Assisting with the transportation and safe positioning of the simulator at various venues.
- Liaising with schools, teachers, RFDS staff, and local community members to coordinate visits and promote program participation.
- Travel regionally with a 10-meter trailer to deliver the Education Program, occasionally requiring overnight stays.
To be successful, you will need:
- Proven experience in education, community engagement, or public outreach, with a strong focus on working with children, schools, or health education initiatives.
- You must be available and willing to work various shifts including occasional overnight stays. Extended hours may be necessary at short notice.
- Enjoy working with people, friendly and confident manner.
- Flexible, stakeholder-focused and happy to pitch in wherever needed.
- To be able to setup, pack-down, and transportation of display materials and equipment.
- To able to drive in both city and country traffic conditions.
- To be able to tow and manoeuvre trailers in various settings (e.g. reversing into tight spaces)
- A deep understanding and commitment of child safety and wellbeing, including familiarity with relevant standards and a commitment to complying with all safeguarding requirements.
- High attention to detail with sound problem-solving capability.
- Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current Drivers Licence, Working with Children's Check, National Police Check, and the right to work in Australia.
