About Us

When people talk about the Flying Doctor, thoughts generally turn to red-bellied planes undertaking rescue missions in the Outback. However, the current Victorian story is one that reflects today's challenges for people living in remote and rural communities across the state. While we do still transport people by air and by road, this work is complemented by a range of primary health services that address the most common issues people living in country Victoria face when accessing health care.

About the Role

RFDS Victoria is seeking an experienced, strategic leader to shape and deliver our organisation-wide data, insights and digital enablement agenda. In this senior role, you will treat data as a high-value organisational asset—establishing a trusted “single source of truth”, uplifting data literacy, and enabling evidence-based decision-making that strengthens service delivery and long-term mission impact.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

- Leading the development and execution of an organisation‑wide Data, Insights and Digital Enablement Strategy that strengthens performance, service delivery and long‑term mission impact.
- Providing enterprise leadership for data governance, privacy, security and regulatory compliance, embedding robust frameworks and clear accountability for ethical, high‑quality data use.
- Overseeing the design, maturity and performance of enterprise analytics, forecasting, segmentation and AI‑enabled insight capabilities that inform strategic decision‑making.
- Setting strategic direction for enterprise data architecture, integration, cloud platforms and digital ecosystems to ensure scalability, security and future readiness.
- Driving organisation‑wide optimisation, automation, AI enablement and digital capability uplift in partnership with transformation and operational leaders.
- Leading high‑performing teams and major initiatives that align people, processes and technology, while monitoring performance, risks and value realisation across data and digital programs.

To be successful, you will need:

- Tertiary qualification in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Digital Transformation, Analytics, or a related discipline, demonstrating advanced strategic and technical expertise.
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ senior leadership experience delivering complex, organisation wide data, insights, digital transformation, or technology enabled change initiatives within a not for profit, health, government, or similarly complex, mission driven environment.
- Demonstrated leadership in enterprise data governance, architecture, and integration, including cloud platforms, data quality, privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Extensive experience building and maturing enterprise analytics and digital ecosystems, spanning BI strategy, advanced analytics, AI/ML, CRM platforms, and omni‑channel engagement.
- Proven ability to translate complex data into strategic intelligence that drives executive decision‑making, organisational performance, and evidence‑based planning.
- Strong capability in aligning digital and data investments with organisational strategy, revenue growth, supporter value, and effective vendor and contract management.
- Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current Victorian Drivers Licence, National Police Check, and the right to work in Australia.

What working at RFDS can offer you:

- Five non-accruable Office Closure Leave days each year
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Access to salary packaging options to reduce your taxable income
- Fitness passport – a discounted gym membership to gyms and pools that both you and your family can enjoy
- Access to discounted private health insurance
- Enjoy a full-time role with flexible work arrangements to work from home and at our Richmond office, as well as options for purchased leave.
- Great parental leave benefits in addition to government parental leave.
