Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides emergency aeromedical and allied health services for people in rural and remote Australia. About the Program
Patient Transport RFDS offers Non-Emergency Patient Transport across Victoria and some areas of New South Wales. We work with a large fleet of ambulances and support our transport services with RFDS aircraft. Patient Transport RFDS provides clinical care for people travelling from home to hospital, hospital to hospital and hospital to home, as well as transport to and from specialist clinics.
About the Role
As an ATA, you will deliver high-quality, dignified, and patient-focused care, ensuring the efficient and effective transport of non-emergency pre- and post-hospital patients. Your role will be crucial in maintaining the comfort and respect of each patient throughout their journey.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Perform patient assessment and intervention on-road
- Provide high quality patient care and treatment during on-road transport
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with patients and stakeholders
- Perform independently and problem solve within established policies and procedures
- Work collaboratively with other team members
To be successful, you will need:
-Experience working in the NEPT sector in an equal role desirable but not essential
-Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current Full Drivers Licence, Working with Children's Check, National Police Check, and the right to work in Australia.
-Be able to drive in both city and country traffic conditions
-Have the availability to pick up shifts across 7 days occasionally when required.
-All Applicants must be or have worked as an ATA or
- Diploma of Paramedical Science (Ambulance), or
-Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic), or Other equivalent qualification for Ambulance Officers recognized by RFDS or DHHS
- And Evidence of successful completion of required clinical placements and a Clinical Skills Assessment, completion of a minimum of 400 hours operational stretcher experience under the direct supervision of a clinical instructor, successful completion of clinical skills assessment (e.g. stage 8).
- For Registered Nurses Only - Must have AHPRA nursing registration, and Evidence of completed nursing graduate year or documented work history within a hospital setting (Emergency Department, Cardiac Unit, High Dependency Unit, Intensive Care, Theatre) or Evidence of 400 clinically supervised hours within another registered ambulance service.

Mandatory vaccination policy:

All applicants must undergo a driver history and demerit point check, at compliance stage. To be successful, you must not have repeated driving offences within the last three years. In addition, all positions are subject to a National Police Check and require holding a valid Employee Working with Children Check.
