The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) is an organisation that requires little introduction. As we fly towards our 100-year anniversary, our name is cemented in Australian history as a trusted healthcare provider to the rural and remote communities we serve. RFDSSE is a mid-sized organisation with 450+ employees, contractors and volunteers and 60 leaders, combining health, aviation and corporate industries.

Like many teams across RFDSSE, the People Team has grown from humble beginnings. What started with a single personnel team member and a filing cabinet has evolved into a team of nine (9) highly valued HR professionals, each bringing unique skills and expertise to support our most valuable asset - our people. We’re a team that celebrate the individual and team wins, collaborate together and hold each other accountable.

While our organisation continues to grow and evolve, so does the People Team and we have recently created a stand-alone Talent Acquisition function, to do the recruitment heavy lifting. These responsibilities previously sat in the People Partner role – and with this change, we’ll be able to focus on the proactive business priorities that always seem to slip to the bottom of the list.

This means we’re now seeking an experienced People Partner to join our team to make a meaningful impact on our people, support our leaders and help shape the future of RFDSSE.

Here’s a snip of what you will part of: 90 Years of RFDSSE!

What you will be doing:

  • Partner with leaders to identify and deliver workforce planning solutions that meet the current and future needs of their teams.
  • Provide advice on industrial and employment matters, including five RFDSSE Enterprise Agreements, several Modern Awards and individual employment contracts.
  • Provide tailored coaching, guidance and support to both new and experienced leaders, recognising that every people-related challenge requires a unique approach.
  • Lead and contribute to business improvement initiatives and project portfolios aligned with organisational priorities, your professional interests and development goals. Projects in the Partner portfolio include:
  •    Supporting our Medical Practitioners EA negotiations
  •    Developing our EVP
  •    Psychosocial initiatives
  •    Becoming a Child Safe Organisation
  •    Rolling out our new Leadership Development Program
  •    HRIS system upgrade and implementation
  •    eLearning program
  • Develop, review and maintain people-related policies, procedures, templates and documentation to support best practice and compliance.
  • Monitor and maintain HR systems, records and files to ensure governance, compliance and record-keeping requirements are consistently met.
  • This is a rare opportunity to use your People expertise for a greater purpose, supporting regional and remote communities. It's a role for someone who enjoys working closely with people and leaders, solving real-world challenges, and making a tangible difference beyond the numbers.

About you:

  • You have experience working within a purpose-driven organisation, or a genuine passion for contributing to one. You understand the importance of balancing support of both our people and the communities we serve.
  • You can consistently demonstrate our organisational values of Care, Reliability, Trust and Safety through your interactions, decision-making and approach to partnering with leaders and employees.
  • You are an effective communicator who can adapt your style to suit a range of audiences, providing clear, honest and practical advice.
  • You take pride in delivering high-quality work, maintaining strong attention to detail and contributing positively to the success of RFDSSE.
  • You are proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused, building trusted relationships and supporting positive people outcomes across the organisation.
  • You will be working remotely, away from your manager, team members and stakeholders and will need the ability to build and manage these relationships remotely and be comfortable and confident working without day-to-day team contact and connection.

About your experience:

  • You bring relevant 5+ years experience working within a People function. While we don’t expect our next People Partner to be an expert in every aspect of HR, we are looking for someone who is curious, adaptable and committed to continuously developing their capability.
  • You have experience supporting organisational compliance requirements, ideally within a complex or multidisciplinary environment.
  • You have the ability to interpret and apply employment legislation, Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements. Experience in these areas is highly regarded, however a willingness to learn and develop your expertise is equally important if you have not had exposure to a complex IR environment.

What’s in it for you?

  • Corporate AHRI membership
  • Salary Packaging - access to generous not-for-profit tax-free benefits of up to $18,500 plus novated car leasing and electronic device packaging options
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program including counselling, nutrition sessions, financial sessions and legal support
  • Generous paid Parental leave provisions – 14 weeks at full pay
  • Professional development opportunities including paid study leave and support (relevant to role)
  • Retail partnerships and discounts – such as corporate discounts on Isuzu vehicles and discounts at the RFDS online shop
  • Access to Fitness Passport - a discounted workplace health and fitness program
  • Employee recognition program
  • Discounted Qantas Club Membership and Frequent Flyer benefits
  • Annual end of year shutdown, with ability to purchase leave
  • This role can be based remotely in NSW, provided you have accessibility to a major airport for planned travel to Sydney, Dubbo or Broken Hill when required.
