Through our Patient Transport Service, we provide non‑emergency patient transport in Victoria and New South Wales, supporting patients with safe, compassionate care as they travel between home, hospitals and specialist clinics—on the ground and in the air.
About the role
Flying Doctor Patient Transport is seeking motivated and caring Ambulance Transport Attendants to join our Bairnsdale team. This full-time role offers flexibility, structured training, and the opportunity to work alongside experienced clinicians in a supportive environment—without the pressures of emergency response work.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Perform patient assessment and clinical interventions during road transport
- Deliver safe, compassionate care aligned with RFDS clinical guidelines and NEPT regulations
- Monitor patients and evaluate responses to treatment en‑route
- Work collaboratively with a partner clinician in a team‑based model
Qualifications and experience required:
- Current or previous experience as an Ambulance Transport Attendant, or
- Hold a Diploma of Paramedical Science (Ambulance), Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic), or other equivalent qualification for Ambulance Officers recognized by RFDS or DHHS
- And Evidence of successful completion of required clinical placements and a Clinical Skills Assessment, completion of a minimum of 400 hours operational stretcher experience under the direct supervision of a clinical instructor, successful completion of clinical skills assessment (e.g. stage 8)
- For Registered Nurses Only: Must have AHPRA nursing registration, and Evidence of completed nursing graduate year or documented work history within a hospital setting (Emergency Department, Cardiac Unit, High Dependency Unit, Intensive Care, Theatre) or Evidence of 400 clinically supervised hours within another registered ambulance service
- Hold a full driver’s licence, be confident driving in both metropolitan and regional conditions, and have flexible availability to work shifts across seven days when required

Mandatory vaccination policy:
