Description
The Far North Mental Health and Wellbeing Service is seeking an Administration Officer to support and coordinate the daily operations of our Mental Health team. Based at the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Cairns Base, this position is offered as a permanent, full-time role.
We are looking for a self-motivated team member who can independently manage their workload while supporting our operations. This person should adapt easily to changing tasks in a dynamic environment and have the confidence to manage responsibilities effectively.
How will you support the team?
- Processing incoming client referrals
- Ensure that data is accurate and up to date through skilled data entry.
- Coordinating travel and accommodation bookings
- Fleet management of our vehicles.
- Scheduling and coordinating all team meetings including agendas and minute taking.
- Support orientation of new clinicians.
- Coordinating community training (for example -mental health first aid)
- Assisting in event management for the Far North Team (as needed)
- General administration tasks and activities
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and the flexibility to manage different tasks. This person will be highly organised, skilled in multitasking and quick to pick up new computer systems. Clear communication is key, as you will coordinate with different team members to keep operations running smoothly.
It is highly advantageous to have a Certificate or Diploma in Business Administration.

The RFDS (Queensland Section) has the largest mental health service of any RFDS section in Australia, with teams across the state providing mild to moderate psychological support for people in rural and remote Queensland.
Our Far North team is made up of mental health nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and psychologists who deliver care in ways that meet each community’s unique needs, which is essential for positive individual outcomes. Services include individual and group sessions, counselling, mental health workshops, outreach services, and support for community events.
