Train with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) 
and Queensland Health - North West Hospital Health Service (NWHHS) or South West Hospital Health Service (SWHHS).
  
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) (Queensland Section), in partnership with NWHHS and SWHHS, is promoting exciting opportunities for doctors to join as GP Registrars. While the roles include rotations with RFDS, you will be employed directly by the Hospital and Health Service (HHS). 
  • NWHHS Model: 2 weeks with RFDS in Mt Isa and 2 weeks in Normanton with NWHHS.
  • SWHHS Model: 2 weeks with RFDS in Charleville and 2 weeks in Cunnamulla with SWHHS.
This is a live-in model (no FIFO availability), offering a unique chance to deliver life-changing healthcare to some of Queensland’s most remote and underserved communities.

What You’ll Do:
  • Deliver high-quality primary care to remote communities.
  • Work alongside nurses, mental health clinicians, and pilots.
  • Experience the thrill of aviation and the deep satisfaction of rural medicine.
  • RFDS Clinics – Fly out daily to provide essential GP services across remote communities
  • Normanton and Cunnamulla Hospital – spend 2 weeks each month delivering primary and emergency care in a rural hospital setting
Who We’re Looking For:
  • Registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner
  • On a training pathway to Fellowship of RACGP or ACRRM
  • Experience in community General Practice, Indigenous Health Care, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Emergency Medicine is desirable
  • ALS 1 or 2 certification
  • Passion for rural and remote health, with strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Cultural awareness, particularly regarding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health perspectives.
