About the Role

The RFDS (Queensland Section) is seeking an experienced Health Information Analyst to join our Virtual & Digital Health team on a full‑time, 6‑month contract. Reporting to the Health Information Manager, this pivotal role will shape how RFDS leverages data to drive evidence-based decision making and deliver improved health outcomes across rural and remote communities.
  
You’ll translate strategic objectives into measurable indicators, establish baselines, and ensure compliance with national data standards. Your insights will directly inform service planning, evaluation, and delivery across our clinical programs.
  
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain performance indicators aligned to RFDS strategies
  • Identify and define data requirements, establishing baselines and adapting measures where needed
  • Create and publish a health data glossary that meets the needs of the indicators
  • Implement governance processes and quality assurance for indicators and outcomes
  • Analyse and evaluate data to generate actionable insights
  • Create and deliver clear insights to inform strategic planning and service improvement.
Who we are looking for

A collaborative, detail-oriented professional with a passion for using health information to improve health outcomes. You thrive in multidisciplinary teams and have a strong understanding of health care service delivery in Australia. With a positive and proactive approach, you will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Public Health, Health Information Management, Data Analytics, Health Sciences or related discipline
  • 5–7 years’ relevant experience
  • Strong skills in interpreting qualitive and quantitative data
  • Proficiency in statistical and thematic analysis, data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, metadata management, and compliance with legislation
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable:
  • Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA).
  • Awareness of rural and remote health contexts.
