Description

Join the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) and make a meaningful impact with an iconic for-purpose organisation dedicated to delivering patient-centred healthcare and aeromedical services to regional, rural, and remote communities.

We are seeking a Flight Nurse (Midwifery) to join our Charleville team—delivering emergency retrievals, inter-facility transfers, and primary health care (PHC) services to some of Queensland’s most remote and unique communities.
As a Flight Nurse (Midwifery), you’ll:

  • Provide emergency retrieval and inter-facility transport services.
  • Deliver care in critical situations across a wide range of clinical presentations, including trauma, emergency, cardiac, neurology, obstetrics, paediatrics, and neonates.
  • Support child, family, and women’s health, including shared antenatal care.
  • Provide chronic disease management, health promotion, and early intervention programs.
  • Deliver culturally appropriate primary health care services
This is a full-time, maximum-term (12 months) position, working 14 shifts per month.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is dedicated, resourceful and confident working autonomously in a dynamic, ever-changing environment. You’ll thrive as part of a respected, collaborative team, taking pride in supporting people through challenging times and building lasting relationships along the way. In addition, you will have:
  • Registration with AHPRA as both a Registered Nurse and Midwife.
  • 5 years’ post-graduate nursing experience (FTE).
  • 3 years’ FTE experience in a critical care environment (within the last 7 years).
  • 3 years’ FTE experience in a Primary Health Care setting.
  • Current ALS2, PALS, and Neonatal Resuscitation certification (or the ability to obtain).
  • Rural and remote nursing experience, with an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health needs.
  • Ability to work in the confined space of a small aircraft and deliver care independently.
Highly regarded:
  • Immunisation endorsement.
  • RIPRN (Rural and Isolated Practice Endorsement).
  • Postgraduate qualifications in areas such as Child & Family Health, Chronic Disease, Diabetes Education, Lactation, or Cervical Screening.

  • Gratuity ($3,923) and remote payment ($4,688) after 12 months.
  • $7,000 relocation assistance.
  • Comprehensive orientation program.
  • Employee Assistance Program (wellbeing, financial, nutrition, and legal support).
  • Private health insurance discounts & novated leasing options.
  • Complimentary uniform allocation and access to our Fitness Passport program (staff and family discounts for gyms and health centres).
