Description
The RFDS is moving into the future with a continued focus on best practice and a strong motivation for achieving excellence in safety and quality assurance. The RFDS (Queensland Section) has a vacancy for an Operations Manager – Airworthiness (OMA) in a Full-time, Permanent capacity located at the Brisbane RFDS Base.
The OMA is accountable for the comprehensive monitoring of both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, ensuring the optimal availability of aircraft assets for RFDSQ Operations. Additionally, the OMA is designated to deputise for the General Manager -Technical Operations in the roles of Head of Aircraft Airworthiness & Maintenance Control (HAAMC) or Certified Aviation Manager as necessary. This role will contribute to reducing direct maintenance costs while ensuring safe and compliant operational performance of the RFDS fleet in service to those living in rural and remote Queensland.
Duties include:
They will lead standards for excellence and improvements through our values and:
- Lead the maintenance watch and maintenance planning teams to deliver a high level of service, supporting the strategic and commercial objectives of the organisation.
- Collaborate with OCC and Operations Manager Engineering to achieve a high delivery of service
- Promote continuous improvement practices in the Technical Operations team.
To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
- Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) – B1 or B2, or Formal Qualifications in Management, Engineering, or relevant
- Demonstrated management and organisational skills and experience within an aviation operating environment
- Demonstrated skill in leading a team of like-minded aviation professionals and promoting a positive team culture
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Regulations and Standards applicable to the continuing Airworthiness of Aircraft (King Air – desirable)
- Strong computer skills across relevant Office and aviation maintenance databases/systems
- Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft airworthiness, maintenance control and certification regulatory requirements
- Strong understanding of CASA regulations
- Proven ability to manage projects, coordinate resources, and achieve outcomes
- Committed to collaboration with other Key Personnel in Flight Operations, Safety and Engineering Maintenance teams
- Flexible with working hours (including work outside of core business hours) may be required
