The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most well respected aeromedical organisations in the world. We deliver extensive health care and 24-hour emergency service to those who live in and travel through remote, rural and regional Australia.

We are offering you an exciting opportunity to join the Royal Flying Doctor Service (South Eastern Section) in Dubbo NSW.

The Role:

We’re looking for a Duty Operations Coordinator to join our team in the Operations Control Centre (OCC). This is a critical role at the heart of our service, making sure the right crews, vehicles, and aircraft are in the right place at the right time so patients receive safe and timely care.

What the role involves:

Every day in the OCC is different. As a Duty Operations Coordinator, you’ll:

  • Plan and coordinate aircraft, road vehicles, clinicians, and crews to deliver care where it’s needed
  • Keep track of active missions and respond calmly when plans change
  • Balance priorities when demand is high, making timely decisions with the best available information
  • Be the first point of contact for operational issues, solving and escalating when needed
  • Communicate clearly with teams and stakeholders so everyone stays on the same page
  • Maintain accurate operational records, provide structured handovers, and contribute to reporting for our clients
  • Support safe, efficient, and compliant operations while looking for ways to improve how we work

You don’t need to arrive knowing every detail – you’ll be trained in our systems and processes – but you do need to be ready to learn, adapt, and work closely with others to keep things moving.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in an operational setting (e.g. aviation, logistics, emergency services, or similar)
  • Strong prioritisation and problem-solving skills, especially under pressure
  • Clear and confident communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders
  • A willingness to work shifts as part of a 24/7 roster
  • Competence with basic computer systems (Microsoft Office)
  • NSW Driver’s Licence (or equivalent)
  • Working With Children Check and Category B vaccinations (can be completed on appointment)

Above all, we’re looking for someone who is calm, organised, and collaborative — the kind of person who helps the team stay focused and effective when the pressure is on.

Employee Benefits:

  • Generous salary packaging
  • Fitness Passport access
  • 5 weeks Annual Leave
  • Be part of a purpose-driven team contributing to life-saving operations

Why join us:

This more than just a coordination job – it’s about being part of a team that makes life-saving and life-changing health care possible for people in some of the most remote parts of Australia.

If you’re ready to take on a role that’s challenging, rewarding, and truly meaningful, we’d love to hear from you.

Our values of Reliability, Trust, Care and Safety aren’t just words — they shape how we work together and how we serve our communities.
