Flying Doctor Schools
For more than 10 years, RFDS Victoria has run an education program for primary schools across the state.
The program includes a life-sized replica of the cockpit and fuselage of an actual Flying Doctor plane fitted with avionics, flight simulator and the equipment used by the doctors, nurses and pilots of RFDS, giving students the opportunity to experience rescuing a patient in the outback.
The program's comprehensive educational resource has been written by a team of practicing and registered teachers for Victorian Primary and Secondary school students.
This resource has been designed to focus on seven general capabilities that are addressed in the Australian Curriculum.
