When people talk about the Flying Doctor, thoughts generally turn to red-bellied planes undertaking rescue missions in the Outback. However, the current Victorian story is one that reflects today's challenges for people living in remote and rural communities across the state. While we do still transport people by air and by road, this work is complemented by a range of primary health services that address the most common issues people living in country Victoria face when accessing health care.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead practical automation and AI initiatives that make everyday work easier for people across RFDS Victoria. As Automation Lead, you will help shape, design and deliver sustainable digital solutions that improve how teams work and support RFDS Victoria’s broader transformation agenda.
Working across the organisation, you will uncover practical opportunities for innovation, lead the delivery of automation solutions, guide good governance and support changes that create lasting value for our people and the communities we serve.
Based in Richmond and reporting to the Director, Data and Digital Enablement, you will work with stakeholders across multiple directorates to understand their needs, build confidence in automation and AI, and help teams embrace new ways of working.

Key responsibilities include:
· Identify, assess and prioritise automation, AI and process improvement opportunities across the organisation.
· Lead the design, development and implementation of automation solutions that improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
· Provide expert advice and guidance on automation, AI and low-code technologies to support business outcomes.
· Partner with stakeholders to understand business requirements, map processes and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
· Establish and maintain governance frameworks, standards and best practices for automation and AI initiatives.
· Monitor solution performance, manage risks and drive continuous improvement to maximise value and effectiveness.
· Support change management, user adoption and capability uplift through training, documentation and knowledge sharing.
· Contribute to RFDS Victoria's digital transformation agenda by identifying emerging technologies and innovation opportunities
To be successful, you will need:
· Experience in automation, digital transformation, process improvement or a similar role in a complex organisation.
· Understanding of automation, artificial intelligence, low-code technologies and process improvement approaches.
· Experience designing and implementing automation solutions using platforms such as UiPath, Power Apps, Power Automate or similar technologies.
· Proven ability to analyse business processes, identify improvement opportunities and deliver practical, value-driven solutions.
· Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams.
· Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts into clear and actionable information for non-technical audiences.
· Experience developing governance frameworks, standards and best practices, with an understanding of security, compliance and data management requirements.
· Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Process Management or a related discipline; industry certifications in UiPath, Power Platform, Lean/Six Sigma or AI governance frameworks will be highly regarded
· Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current Working with Children's Check, National Police Check, and the right to work in Australia.
