Clinics NSW&ACT

Our clinic program takes around 5,000 clinics to more than 20 remote communities each year. Remote clinics involve us flying medical professionals - doctors, nurses, dentists, mental health team members and specialists, from our bases into rural and remote locations. Providing primary healthcare services is a key focus for the RFDS South Eastern Section, and by diagnosing and treating patients early it can prevent the need for emergency retrievals.

Who attends remote clinics? People who live, work and travel in remote and rural Australia.

"Having access to a GP service through a clinic can mean early detection, and treatment," says Alison. "This can save lives in remote communities, as well as avoid emergency retrievals which can occur if things go untreated to the point that they escalate."
