Chris and Harry love adventures, and as passionate supporters, like you, they jumped at the chance to get involved in the Outback Air Race.

A father and son flying team out of Canberra, Chris and 14-year-old Harry are truly inspiring. “We’ve explored a lot of regional Australia and seen firsthand the vital work of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, so getting involved was an easy decision. We also have a friend who works for the Flying Doctor, so this gave us extra insight.”

“It ticked two big boxes for us: raising money for a service we care deeply about and the chance to have a real adventure together as father and son,”
Chris shares.

Over 12 months, their creative, community-driven fundraising, from sausage sizzles to a school presentation, raised vital funds and awareness that continues even after the race has finished. Chris is so proud of Harry for his efforts. “He’s been involved in every part, from fundraising to flying. It’s been such a bonding experience. It turns out people really get behind a good cause!” said Chris.

The Outback Air Race began in Yulara, Northern Territory in August 2025, before travelling through locations like Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Kununurra and Broome, finishing in Carnarvon, Western Australia three weeks later. The duo had an amazing time and said they would sign up again in a heartbeat.

Chris said knowing the impact we have in remote areas really drove home why they were fundraising.
