Tiarnie never expected to have complex dental surgery in her hometown of Lightning Ridge - but your support made it possible.
“Tiarnie had bad experiences with her teeth growing up. She had nerve damage from previous dentists and was petrified to go,” Tiarnie’s partner Emma-Lee explained. “When we got together about three years ago, I worked really hard to encourage her,” she said.
The services offered by our Dental team across Western and Far West NSW allow people like Tiarnie and Emma-Lee to more easily access oral health care rather than travel long distances. Emma-Lee had seen our dentist for check-ups for seven years, so she encouraged Tiarnie to do the same.
Tiarnie needed special care to overcome her fear. Emma-Lee says what stood out for them both was how caring, considerate and professional the Dental team were with Tiarnie, and they were especially grateful when the team was able to do root canal surgery.
“They went above and beyond. It wasn’t something they would normally be able to do in Lightning Ridge, but they were able to find a way to make it possible."
“So many people suffer in other communities where they can't access these services, and I am so grateful we can. This service provides incredibly necessary care. It is life-changing,” said Emma-Lee.
Thank you for giving people like Tiarnie and Emma-Lee, living in the most isolated communities, access to essential dental care and the confidence to smile again.
