Our team was on hand over the Easter long weekend

Supporting Rural and Remote Communities Over Easter

While many Australians were enjoying a well-earned Easter break, teams from our Dubbo and Broken Hill bases were hard at work ensuring vital healthcare support reached those living in some of the most remote parts of New South Wales.

Over the four-day Easter long weekend, we supported 49 patients across regional and outback NSW, responding to 65 calls to our medical assistance line. These included urgent requests from rural clinics, remote properties, mine sites, and travellers in need, some hundreds of kilometres from the nearest hospital.

Among the many calls for help, we responded to:

  • A redback spider bite during a late-night roo shooting trip
  • A severe toothache far from the nearest dentist
  • A motorbike accident and an e-scooter crash,
  • A mental health crisis, and
  • Even a sheep farmer with a stick through their boot

Our medical teams, including doctors, nurses, pilots, and patient transport crews were available around the clock to respond to both emergency and non-emergency calls, with 24 emergency transfers completed across regional, rural and remote NSW.

Behind every call was someone who needed help, and we were proud to be there.

Whether it’s a life-threatening condition, an isolated clinic needing clinical advice, or a logistical challenge in getting someone safely from ward to ward, we’re committed to ensuring no one is left behind, no matter how far they are from city hospitals.

To the communities we serve – thank you for trusting us. And to everyone who worked over Easter, thank you for making this care possible.
