The Royal Flying Doctor Service (South Eastern Section) and Broken Hill filmmaker Jason King are proud to announce a powerful new partnership in support of the upcoming impact documentary: The Jordan Liberty Project.

Jordan Liberty Film

The film, currently in development, was created by Jason King in honour of his daughter Jordan, who tragically died by suicide in 2023 at the age of 18, and aims to spark a national conversation about youth mental health, suicide prevention, and resilience in remote communities.

Set across the vast and rugged landscape of Far West NSW, through sharing Jordan’s story and Jason’s healing journey, the documentary will explore the lived experiences of families and communities navigating mental health challenges in some of Australia’s most isolated communities.

“This film is my way of turning every parent’s worst nightmare into something positive by honouring Jordan’s life and helping others who may be struggling in silence,” said Jason King.

“The strong community support for the project has been overwhelming. Partnering with the RFDS at this early stage means we can ensure the film is not only powerful, but also safe, ethical, and grounded in real-world support for those who need it most.”

As the first official ‘Impact Partner’, RFDSSE will provide clinical guidance, trauma-informed oversight, and community engagement support throughout the development of the documentary. The RFDSSE will also help amplify the film’s message through screenings and local events across its service footprint.

“Mental health in the bush is one of the most pressing challenges we face,” said Vanessa Latham, Senior Mental Health Manager.

“By working with Jason and other local stakeholders such as Lifeline and young community members with lived experience, this partnership allows us to support a deeply personal and courageous story that will resonate with so many, while also promoting awareness, connection, and access to care.”

With suicide rates in very remote areas more than double those in major cities, and with young people and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities particularly at risk, both Jason King and the RFDS believe this project is a vital step toward healing and hope.
