Thanks to your generosity, our Emergency Retrieval team was able to reach Charlie in time, stabilising him and ensuring he made it to a specialist burns unit for critical treatment.
Today, 17 months later, Charlie is continuing his long and painful recovery, but he is alive and that is thanks to you.
“Being a country boy and living in the bush is hard, but it makes me so grateful to have the Flying Doctor who’s able to get out to us and help,” Charlie said.
Recovery hasn’t been easy. Charlie still has no feeling in parts of his bottom lip and left leg, and he continues to need ongoing treatments and physiotherapy, but he’s determined to keep pushing forward.
“If it wasn’t for the Flying Doctor, we’d all be buggered out in the sticks,” Charlie said. “They are a godsend, not just for country towns, but for everyone.”
