The RFDS in WA

Clinical Care

The RFDS is committed to providing the best possible clinical care for every patient and works in close collaboration with other health services such as the WA Country Health Service and St John WA to ensure seamless care.

Our health services are accredited to the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, which ensure a nationally consistent level of care that our patients have the right to expect from the RFDS. In addition, our remote GP services are accredited to Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL) standards.

Aeromedical care is provided to RFDS patients by specialist doctors and retrieval nurses Primary health care is provided by RFDS GPs, nurses, dentists and allied health professionals. Industrial Health services are provided by nurses and paramedics. All RFDS Clinical employees receive ongoing training to ensure they have the skills to manage the full range of clinical situations and patient needs in our unique working environments.

Patient Satisfaction

Patient feedback is essential to measuring our performance and understanding areas for improvement. Feedback is sought from a formal survey process and ad hoc patient feedback.

Hand hygiene

The RFDS Clinical teams and all employees are required to undertake regular refresher training in hand hygiene. Our performance in this area is an indicator of our ongoing performance in relation to professional training and clinical care.
