The RFDS in WA
Our WA aircraft fleet, consists of 17 Pilatus PC-12 turbo prop aircraft, 3 Rio Tinto LifeFlight PC-24 jets and 2 Fortescue Heli-Med Service EC145 Helicopters which offer a 'mantle of safety' across more than 2.5 million square kilometres of our vast state.
The RFDS provides critical life saving intervention through Inter Hospital Transfers as well as Primary Evacuations throughout the whole of Western Australia as well as Christmas and Cocos Islands, usually when a patient with serious illness or injury requires a medical transfer to a large regional or tertiary centre for definitive care.
Our service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are managed from our state-wide Coordination Centre at the Jandakot base.
