Thanks to your unconditional support, our Teddy Bear Clinic brought a fun and interactive experience to hundreds of kids at the 2026 Agfair in Broken Hill, teaching them how the Flying Doctor works to keep them happy and healthy.

Treating an ‘ouchie’, having an injection, taking an emergency flight, these are all experiences children in rural, regional and remote areas might experience in their lifetime.

At the Teddy Bear Clinic, developed by our Child, Adolescent and Family Clinical Lead, Lesley Harvey, young visitors connect with our services in an interactive and playful environment, which Lesley hopes will provide comfort and familiarity should they need the Flying Doctor in the future.

“The Teddy Bear Clinic showcases our work through play. It's a wonderful way to engage with children and parents,"
says Lesley. “Play Therapy is an integral mental health service for children in remote communities, and it’s a service made possible by many of our passionate supporters.”

More than 250 knitted bears were given to clinic attendees this year. Each bear was knitted and donated by generous knitting groups made up of caring supporters like you, including Lyndal Harris of Bundaberg and her caravan knitters group.

Tennessee, age 11, even made a return visit after attending the first Teddy Bear Clinic in 2024. “It just brings back good memories, it gave me a little poof of happiness. My favourite part about the Teddy Bear Clinic is all of it,” she said.

Your commitment means we can be there to support all families in the bush, helping children feel safe and cared for, whenever they may need us.
