New state of the art training facilities were launched in Dubbo on the 10th October at the Royal Flying Doctor Service Base. Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO QC, and husband Mr Dennis Wilson, visited the base and opened the facilities in their capacity as our new joint Patrons.
New training facilities include a Flight Training Device, the first in the Service’s 90-year history, and a medical and health training area featuring high tech simulation equipment. These were funded through generous donations from supporters.
President Ruth Sandow said that these new facilities represented a significant investment in aeromedical excellence.
“The Royal Flying Doctor Service will remain on the front foot as regional healthcare needs grow and change. With these new facilities, we will be more prepared than ever, ensuring that people in the country receive quality healthcare whenever and wherever they need it.
That’s what the people of regional, rural and remote Australia deserve,” said Mrs Sandow The Flight Training Device is the first King Air training facility in NSW. It simulates real-life flying conditions and will enable the Royal Flying Doctor Service to deliver flight training in-house at its Dubbo base.
The medical and health training facilities have already been in use over the several months, with NSW Ambulance, Dubbo Rescue Squad, and clinicians from Dubbo Base hospital benefitting from the brand new equipment available.
