The Royal Flying Doctor Service (South Eastern Section) provides life-saving emergency evacuations and comprehensive primary healthcare services across South Eastern Australia including Southwest Queensland,Eastern and Northern South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania and is part of one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world, providing extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service.

The Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) has a rich and vibrant history starting with the dream of Reverend John Flynn who witnessed the daily struggle of pioneers living in remote areas and his vision to provide a "mantle of safety" for the people of the bush.

The RFDS has a great story to tell and we are about to embark on an exciting tourist facility expansion program that will position the RFDS as a major tourism attraction both in
Dubbo and Broken Hill. This role will take the lead in developing the positioning, marketing, operational planning and overseeing the visitor experience fit out.

Key responsibilities:

  • Liaise, collaborate and influence key industry stakeholders, government, tourism partners, consultants and internal stakeholders to increase a cohesive strategic delivery
  • Develop and execute the Tourism marketing strategy and action plan in order to meet ambitious targets in the lead up and into the operation of the expanded tourist facilities and visitor centre with an emphasis on Dubbo in particular
  • Develop the operational plan to ensure smooth operation of the visitor centre from day one of opening
  • Project manage thedevelopment and fit out of the visitor experience in Broken Hill and Dubbo ensuring key timeframes and budget expectations are tightly managed and met·
  • Forecast performance and act proactively to increase the relevance and impact of the RFDS

Essential skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in planning, managing and delivering complex high profile projects
  • Experience in the national and international tourism (or similar) marketplace will be highly regarded
  • Excellent track record in tourism marketing with a strong emphasis on digital marketing including social media, content, SEO and website design and e-commerce
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a significant budget
  • Advanced capability in computer literacy in MS Office suite and advanced reporting skills
