GP - Rural Generalist
The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) South Eastern Section has opportunities for Rural Generalists with anaesthetic experience to join our Broken Hill Base.
The RFDS conducts flying clinics and aeromedical evacuations in modern, safe and pressurized aircraft as well as base clinics, and emergency care 24/7 from our Base at Broken Hill. The service also provides remote consultations and we are significantly expanding our telehealth resource.
Working at RFDS is a unique environment in which to practice medicine. You will regularly travel to remote parts of the country and experience differences in each community you visit. The role of Rural Generalist is not without challenges – making decisions about whether a patient needs an investigation that requires a several hundred kilometre round trip and not being able to refuse to see a “walk in” as you may be the only GP for several hundred kilometres. However, many doctors find the satisfaction of treating this very grateful population far outweighs the difficulties.
Qualifications / Experience that we are looking for:
* FRACGP or FACRRM or equivalent.
* Significant experience in critical care medicine, particularly advanced airway and vascular skills. If you have the pre-requisite skills, but do not have retrieval experience, we will train you in this area.
