Expression of Interest - Infection Control Nurse

The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. South Eastern Section provides emergency services inclusive of retrievals and inter-hospital transport, primary health services, mental health services, dental services, and tele-health services to those living and travelling in western and far-western New South Wales, south-west Queensland and northern South Australia.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section is now seeking Expression of Interest for an Infection Control Nurse to join their Clinical Quality and Safety Team.

Role Details

This position leads and evaluates the implementation of the RFDSSE Infection Control Management Plan in collaboration with the Clinical Quality and Safety team, the Infection Control Committee, Infection Control portfolio holders and Health Leadership team; including providing education and advice regarding management of multi-resistant organisms; environmental cleaning; hand hygiene compliance and aseptic technique, infection event investigation, outbreak prevention and management and strategies to reduce health care acquired infection.

Skills Required

- Tertiary qualifications in Nursing and clinical experience in a health care setting.
- Demonstrated specialised nursing knowledge and advanced clinical skills in infection prevention, including applied high-level knowledge and/or experience in the prevention and control of communicable diseases and infection prevention and control across all settings or demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and theory to achieve this.
- Demonstrated understanding of person-centred care, and an ability to model and promote behaviours in line with RFDSSE Code of Conduct and meet organisational values.
- Advanced ability in evaluating and utilising best evidence in the development of infection prevention strategies and policy and procedure.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate adult learning across a range of subject areas pertinent to infection prevention and control theory, strategies and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to use systems and applications for surveillance and audit including reporting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently on individual assignments or team projects without direct supervision.
- Current immunisation qualifications or commitment to work towards
- Current or commitment to work towards post graduate qualifications in infection control and Credentialing with the Australian College for Infection Prevention and Control (ACIPC) CICP-A, CICP-B.
