Dubbo Base Precinct Maintenance Officer
The Company:
The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (South Eastern Section) is one of the countries leading not for profit agencies and the leader in the provision of aeromedical services to regional and remote communities. The South Eastern Section provides traditional aeromedical services across the region as well as contracted aviation support to the NSW Air Ambulance based at Dubbo Airport.

This role is responsible for maintaining all Dubbo Base Facilities and RFDS housing that includes the existing hangar complex, multipurpose facility which includes the tourism and café areas, and aeromedical transfer terminal. The role will undertake some maintenance as well as oversee contractors and other service providers to ensure the RFDS Dubbo Base remains in a state to support service availability and operational excellence outcomes.
Whilst the primary responsibilities of the role will cover the Dubbo operation, the role requires the experience and skillset to work within a structurally and geographically complex organisation.
The Role:
• Champion base WHS performance through proactive risk identification and reporting in conjunction with key stakeholders;
• Procure and coordinate services required for the maintenance and repair of the Dubbo Base facilities and RFDS housing including but not limited to landscape maintenance, cleaning, air conditioner and generator servicing;
• Ensure the scope of all service agreements are in accordance with National Construction Code, Australian Standards, statutory requirements, industrial best practices and risk management principles;
• Be RFDS point of contact and provide direct supervision for all service contracts including cleaning and landscaping:
• Ensure all maintenance and repair works are completed on time and in accordance with specifications, RFDS policies and procedures. Identify contract non-compliances with appropriate escalation for resolution;
• Ensure security of Aeromedical facility and associated requirements at all times
• Regular compliance and building condition inspections
• Develop, implement and maintain a maintenance schedule that ensures roadworthiness of Dubbo ground road fleet in consultation with operational teams. Ground fleet refers to all base vehicles, Mobile Education Unit and Mental Health Engagement Trailer and other vehicles which may be acquired from time to time;
• Assist the Patient Transfer Coordinator in the maintenance of Patient Transfer Vehicles as required.
Desirable qualifications/experience:
• Trade qualifications would be highly regarded for this position.
• Relevant and current professional experience in information technology and/or telecommunications.
Essential qualifications:
• Hold a current NSW Class C drivers license. A Class MR would be advantageous.
• Ability to bring solutions to problems and issues as they arise and make recommendations to Management as necessary.
• Ability to liaise effectively at all levels with a diverse range of people and disciplines, both within and outside the organisation
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency of Microsoft Office products
