The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia is one of the country's leading not-for-profit organisation and the leader in the provision of aeromedical services to regional and remote communities. The South Eastern Section, in addition to traditional aeromedical services across the region, also provides non-emergency patient transport services.
We are seeking applications from highly motivated, service oriented people to support the day-to-day transfer of patients between rural health serviceproviders and airports in Sydney. Drivers are required at Dubbo, Orange, Cobar and Lightening Ridge. RFDS normally provides services 7days/week between the hours of 7am and 10pm (through a combination of on-call day and afternoon shifts).
As an RFDS Driver, you will be part of the Health Services Support team supporting the movement of patients by driving a specially fitted out long wheel-based Mercedes Sprinter vehicle. You will be working with nurses, doctors, pilots and other related specialist support staff.
Applicants must be able to attend training in Dubbo on the 7 & 8 December 2015.
Core Responsibilities
- Provision of patient transport between health facilities and airports
- Assist the clinical team with patient handling and care, operating stretchers in a safe manner during loading and unloading
- Operate in-vehicle tracking and communications systems, and administration systems
- Check and maintain vehicle medical consumables, including ordering and replenishing supplies from local facilities and/or the RFDS aircraft, inconsultation with the clinical team and Operations Control
- Maintain vehicle and equipment cleanliness (including daily and weekly checks)
- Conformance with ongoing and recurrent training
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated customer service orientation
- Current Drivers Licence (Class C)
- Driving Record (to be supplied with application, obtainable from Service NSW)
- Physically capable of supporting the transfer of patients (loading, unloading and manoeuvring patients on/off stretchers and into/out of thevehicle/aircraft
- Competent with contemporary technologies (MS Outlook, iPads, smart phone)
- A collaborative approach to working in a team
- Professional personal appearance
Desirable
- Basic First Aid Certificate, or ability to obtain (HLTFAID003 or agreed equivalent)
- Working with Children clearance, or ability to obtain (Office of the Children's Guardian)
- Aviation Security Identification Card, or ability to obtain/capacity to be issued
- Advanced First Aid Certificate (HTLAID006 or agreed equivalent)
- Certificate III in Non Emergency Client Transport (or equivalent)
