The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) in partnership with the University of Sydney’s Department of Rural Health (UDRH) is seeking an experienced medical officer to work in a truly multi-faceted role comprising of clinical leadership and academic work from our Broken Hill base.

Our committed team at the RFDS provides GP and primary health services to the local community, to conduct clinics and consultations across remote Western NSW. We are significantly expanding our telehealth resources and our primary health services.

The passionate UDRH team operates a successful multidisciplinary rural clinical placement program for medical, nursing and allied health students in far western NSW, contributes to research into rural and remote health issues and supports health service and community development in the region.

As the Academic Medical Officer your day will involve an interesting mix of teaching, management and clinical work. You will play a leadership role working with staff in registrar education and training, as well as the development, management and delivery of medical education programs.

This is a flexible role which will be split across 4 days a week in an academic role and 1 day a week in a clinical role.
Essential Qualifications:

• FRACGP or FACRRM
• Good interpersonal and leadership skills
• Rural generalist with critical care skills desirable, but not essential

Essential Experience:

• Significant postgraduate experience and general qualifications in clinical practice.
• Experience in General Practice
• Teaching Experience - Experience in developing, managing and delivering medical education programs
