Are you passionate about community wellbeing, health promotion, and creating positive change? Join the Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) and help strengthen mental health, alcohol and other drug (MHAOD) outcomes across the Far West region of New South Wales. As our MHAOD Community Engagement & Health Promotion Worker, you'll play a vital role in delivering community-based education, prevention, early intervention and recovery-focused programs across Broken Hill, Menindee and Wilcannia, working closely with local communities, schools, service providers and stakeholders.

About the Role

Working within our Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs team, you will help design and deliver innovative community engagement initiatives that improve wellbeing and build resilience in rural communities. You'll support the delivery of the Guiding Rural Outback Wellbeing (GROW) program, facilitate community education sessions, coordinate local events, and contribute to community-led responses to alcohol, drug and mental health challenges.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering community engagement, health promotion and early intervention activities.
• Facilitating workshops, education sessions and group programs.
• Building strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
• Supporting Local Drug Action Team (LDAT) initiatives and Community Action Plans.
• Delivering programs such as SMART Recovery, Save a Mate (SAM) and other wellbeing initiatives.
• Assisting with grant-funded projects, reporting and program development.
• Promoting pathways to support services and improving community awareness of available resources.

About You

We're seeking an enthusiastic and relationship-focused professional who is passionate about empowering communities and improving health outcomes.

You'll bring:

• Experience in community engagement, health promotion, community development or wellbeing programs.
• Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Proven stakeholder engagement and partnership-building capability.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with rural, remote or diverse communities.
• A current unrestricted driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly throughout the region.

Highly Regarded:

• Experience in Mental Health and/or Alcohol and Other Drug services.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice.
• Experience delivering psychosocial support, prevention or early intervention programs.
• Grant writing, granted ministration or project coordination experience.
• Experience with Local Drug Action Teams (LDAT) or similar community initiatives.

Qualifications: You will hold (or have equivalent experience in):

• Certificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Health Promotion, Youth Work, Aboriginal Primary Health Care, or a related field; Or
• Diploma qualification in Community Services, Counselling, Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Health Promotion, Community Development, or a related discipline. Or
• Equivalent knowledge, skills and experience gained through relevant employment.
