Make a Difference. Stay Active. Give Back.

Have you retired from full-time work but still want to make a meaningful contribution? Are you looking for a role where every shift has purpose, where you'll help people during some of the most important moments of their lives?

The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section is seeking compassionate, dependable individuals to join our Patient Transport team as Casual Patient Transport Support Officers.

Why This Role Is Different

This is not your typical driving job.

You'll be helping transport patients between hospitals, airports and healthcare facilities, working alongside dedicated clinical teams to ensure patients receive safe and compassionate care throughout their journey.

For many of our patients and families, you'll be one of the first people they meet. Your kindness, professionalism and willingness to help can make a genuine difference.

This role is ideal for individuals who are looking for meaningful work, value helping others, and appreciate the flexibility of casual employment. Whether you're seeking to stay active, remain connected to your community, or contribute your experience to a purpose-driven organisation, this opportunity offers a rewarding way to make a real impact.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Driving patient transport vehicles safely and professionally
  • Assisting with patient transfers between healthcare facilities and airports
  • Supporting clinical teams with patient handling and stretcher operations
  • Maintaining vehicles and equipment to a high standard
  • Providing a reassuring and respectful experience for patients and families
  • Representing the values of care, safety and professionalism in every interaction
  • Flexibility That Fits Around Your Life

This is a casual position with irregular and on-call work patterns. While shifts can be unpredictable, this flexibility appeals to people who:

  • Don't want a fixed weekly roster
  • Enjoy variety in their schedule
  • Are looking for occasional work that fits around travel, family or retirement plans
  • Appreciate being part of a team without the commitment of full-time employment

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Genuinely enjoys helping people
  • Is calm, reliable and professional
  • Has strong communication skills
  • Is comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Holds an unrestricted driver's licence
  • Has or is willing to obtain a First Aid Certificate
  • Can meet required compliance checks including Working With Children Clearance and vaccination requirements

What You'll Gain

  • A unique opportunity to support healthcare delivery in your community
  • Meaningful work with a respected Australian organisation
  • A welcoming and supportive team environment
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities
  • The satisfaction of knowing your contribution truly matters

If you're looking for purpose, people and flexibility rather than just another job, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and help us deliver care when it's needed most.

Our Values of Reliability, Care, Trust and Safety shape the way we work as individuals, as team members and with the communities we serve.
