Description

The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) provides comprehensive health services to rural and remote communities in far west NSW, SA and QLD.

The Alcohol and other Drug Community Engagement - Worker Role is part of the service delivery team for the Outreach Drug and Alcohol Services located from the hubs in Dubbo, Cobar and Broken Hill.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position will work closely with the Alcohol and Other Drug Clinicians, Mental Health Professionals, General Practitioners, Community referral services, community members and other key stakeholders.

The role will focus on community engagement activities ranging from provision of written and verbal information to public presentations, advocacy, community development, group facilitation and one on one engagement. There will also be some case management, particularly focused on longer term case management aimed at engaging clients in their communities. It will be important for the employee to have an understanding of the principles and practical applications of community engagement and Alcohol and other Drugs clinical practices and operations.

To be considered for this position the successful applicant will demonstrate qualifications and experience in a drug and alcohol related field such as CERT IV Drug and Alcohol, social work, social science, community services or health. In addition, familiarity with rural and remote services, working in an outreach setting, case management, counselling in one on one and group settings, and an ability to manage referrals into and out of a service will be viewed favourably.
