Dubbo Based Role
Part Time: 4 Days a week

We are offering you an exciting opportunity to join the Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) in this newly created role based in Dubbo as Lead Pharmacist, providing expertise, advice, and support in the maintenance of medication management practices and policies.

Do you know about the RFDS Medical Chest Program, which has been around for 80 years? This is a life-saving program that helps people receive the medication they need when they can’t get to a doctor or hospital. In your new role you will be responsible for overseeing this essential program to support rural and remote communities.

What you will be doing
  • Provide subject matter expertise to senior clinicians and participate on various committees and working groups
  • Develop/Implement systems for monitoring and tracking medical chests, contents and returned medications
  • Support consumers with all medical chest enquiries in a timely manner, including new applications, transfers, agreements, special conditions forms and orders
  • Liaise with suppliers to replenish items as ordered by medical chest holders
  • Manage regular audits to ensure all chests and contents are accounted for and that expired monitored medications have been returned
  • Ensure that RFDSSE is compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements
Essential knowledge and skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Pharmacy, Pharmacy Management, or Pharmacy Practice
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Pharmacist with no restrictions or conditions, or the ability and commitment to obtain within 3 months.
  • 5 or more years of experience as a Pharmacist
  • Professional membership with a national association such as PSA or SHPA
  • Evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination
Desirable experience & criteria
  • Experience in a multi-discipline health service as a pharmacist such as a Hospital Pharmacist or Clinical Pharmacist
