Description
The Royal Flying Doctor Service is an organisation that requires little introduction. We’ve been supporting rural and remote communities since 1928 and are there when we’re needed most. In the past 12 months we have delivered over 85,000 occasions of care including Emergency Retrieval, Patient Transfers, Mental Health Consultations, Dental Care and Vaccinations and we’re now seeking an Aboriginal Health Practitioner to join our team in Broken Hill.
This role will work as part of our healthcare team in an approach to supporting the ‘Closing the Gap’ on Aboriginal Health disparities and improving Aboriginal health access, literacy and outcomes. Working in our Primary Health Care team, the Aboriginal Health Practitioner will work within the Far West area of RFDSSE in Clive Bishop Medical Centre, Network Clinics and the Keeping Healthy Puura Manti Program.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct comprehensive, relevant and holistic health assessments
- Provide management of chronic and other long-term conditions
- Promote Community engagement
- Assist and support families to obtain referral services and linking families to community support where appropriate
- Maintaining accurate and legally acceptable patient records

Essential criteria for the role:
- Demonstrated experience working as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner
- Critical thinking and communication skills
- Ability to undertake clinical service planning
