Description

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) South Eastern Section provides essential services which improve the health and wellbeing of remote, rural and regional communities throughout New South Wales.

We provide a comprehensive range of services including emergency aeromedical retrievals, telehealth services, patient transfers and primary care (including GP, mental health, alcohol & other drugs services, dental health, child and maternal health, Aboriginal health services). We also deliver health education and support to communities where access to services is not readily available.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern is a company limited by guarantee, a registered charity, and a not-for-profit organisation operating a range of service-related activities to support its mission. We are one of Australia’s most trusted charities.

The Board of RFDS South Eastern Section is seeking a voluntary Non-Executive Director with a passion for and commitment to advancing access to healthcare across regional, rural and remote communities. As an active member of a skills based Board of Directors, you will support the strategic direction and the governance of the organisation.

The Board is seeking candidates with demonstrated skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Healthcare (particularly in a regional/rural context);
• Working and engaging with First Nations communities and organisations;
• Information and Communications Technology

As a Non-Executive Director you would be expected to:

• Be aligned to the vision, values and purpose of the Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern
• Have the passion and time to commit to Board activities
• Act within applicable laws, code of conduct for Directors and policies
• Be a positive ambassador for Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern

• Ability to constructively analyse and appraise a range of financial and operational reports
• Integrity, humility and inclusiveness
• Ability to think strategically and understand complexity in the service’s operating environment
• An appreciation of the health needs of remote, rural and regional communities
• Teamwork and communication

The following time commitment is expected:

• An initial Director induction and service orientation
• Attendance at board and committee meetings. Face to face meetings are held four times per year at locations across regional NSW (and virtually as required). Periodic out of session meetings via videoconference as required
• Membership of at least one of the Board Committees.
• Participation in major organisational
• Attendance at the Annual General Meeting, workshops, Board training as necessary.
