Description

The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. RFDSSE provides emergency retrieval services inter-hospital road transport, primary and allied health services, dental services, and tele-health services to those living in remote, rural and outback NSW, and travelling in western and far-western New South Wales, south-west Queensland and north eastern South Australia.

Role Details

The Critical Care Educator will:
  • Manage, develop and coordinate nursing and midwifery activities specifically for the aviation medical and nursing environment
  • Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer, Team Leader – Emergency Services, Health Service Manager, Governance, Engagement & Development team and the Senior Nurses at both Dubbo and Broken hill on training and education for Flight Nurses and retrieval Doctors
  • Work closely with the Clinical Education Manager in the development of the Mandatory training requirements and delivery of educational requirements across the section
  • The Flight Nurse Educator will be responsible for delivering the Education and training program for nurses and medical officers as well as undertaking assessments on an annual basis in line with mandatory training and scope of practice.
  • Facilitate training both internally and externally on a regular basis for the RFDSSE
  • Coordinate the implementation and dissemination of RFDSSE and Health Service standard operating procedures, policies and guidelines.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the training and education area.
  • Regularly travel to Broken hill as required to meet the requirements of the role
Qualification and Skill Requirements:
  • Relevant nursing registration with AHPRA and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Post graduate registrations in Midwifery/critical care – (ED/ICU)
  • Cert IV Training and Assessment
  • Proven training skills
  • Clinical competence in Aeromedical Nursing
  • Current Drivers licence
  • Current police check and working with children.
  • Maintenance of advanced clinical practice skills and competences eg: BLS/ACLS
Please note: This role is a 0.8 FTE position and will generally be combined with 0.2 FTE as a Flight Nurse
