Description
The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) provides comprehensive health services to rural and remote communities in Far West NSW, SA and QLD.
Our Alcohol and other Drug (AoD) Clinicians deliver short-term clinical case management to identified clients requiring support with alcohol and other substance use. The employees work closely with AoD community engagement workers, local GP’s, community mental health teams and other service providers. The successful applicant will use evidence-based methods in both individual and group approaches to support clients to reduce their substance use and minimize related harms.
Additional tasks may include community engagement activities, community level education and health promotion, education to GP’s and other health service providers, school-based education and holistic health screening initiatives.
On some days this varied role will take you to remote communities, other days you will undertake consultations by telephone or Skype, or face to face at one of our hub locations.
The successful applicant will demonstrate qualifications and experience in a drug and alcohol related field such as social work, psychology, social science, community services or health. In addition, familiarity with rural and remote services, working in an outreach setting, case management, counselling in one on one and group settings, and an ability to manage referrals into and out of a service will be viewed favourably.
This is an exciting and challenging role, if you have relevant tertiary qualifications, appropriate clinical experience and an interest in rural and remote practice, we’d love to hear from you.
