Description

Royal Flying Doctor Service (South Eastern Section) is now seeking applications for the full-time position of Head of Engineering (HoE) based in our Sydney office at Surry Hills.

Reporting to the General Manager Aviation, the HoE is the Responsible Manager for all functions relating to aircraft maintenance performance. The HoE provides support and direction to the Engineering teams across the RFDS South Eastern Section while consistently innovating and improving its services. The HoE will lead the transition from a CAR 30 to a CASR Part 145 Aircraft Maintenance Organisation (AMO).

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a senior engineering management role, demonstrating strong leadership and communication skills. This exciting role is ideal for a motivated individual seeking a rewarding opportunity in a complex and challenging environment.

To be considered for this position, you must:

• Held a senior engineering manager role for an organisation maintaining aircraft across multiple locations.
• Be a change leader who motivates and regularly assesses performance, both formally and informally, including providing positive and constructive feedback.
• Meet CASA requirements for knowledge of, and experience relevant to the provision of maintenance services you will be responsible for and a working knowledge of the Manual of Standards of Part 145 and CAR 30.
• Hold a current aircraft engineer licence on King Air aircraft and have qualification in one of the following fields: diploma in aviation maintenance management, diploma in engineering (aeronautical, avionics, mechanical, electrical, electronics).
• Have demonstrated experience in leading the development of CASR expositions.
• Working knowledge of computer-based maintenance systems (Rusada NextGen is highly desirable)
• Able travel regularly to RFDS bases and other remote locations, often at short notice.
• Be skilled in the preparation and presentation of budgets and reports concisely and logically.
• Have a demonstrated understanding of Safety and Quality Management Systems.
• Be able to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) and a Working with Children authorisation.
