Non-Emergency Patient Transport – Registered Nurses
Full-Time role based in Bankstown
The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia South Eastern Section provides comprehensive health services to rural and remote communities in far west NSW, SA and QLD.
About the Role
The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service Registered Nurse (NEPTS RN) is an experienced Registered Nurse employed by the RFDSSE to care for patients accessing the NEPTS for transfer from facility to facility. They will operate within both the aeromedical and road transport environments.
The NEPTS RN is responsible for providing care to patients at a level governed by their scope of practice as determined by Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and within both the RFDSSE guidelines and guidelines outlined in NEPTS contractual agreements. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring patients remain clinically safe during their occasion of care, remaining ‘between the flags’; providing ongoing communication with the patient and their medical escort, as well as various external stakeholders; identifying clinical deterioration and escalating clinical concerns in an appropriate and timely fashion.
When not involved in patient care, the NEPTS RN will be involved in administrative and base duties as determined by the Senior Nurse, Emergency and Transport.
Role Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Relevant registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA); and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia;
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) qualifications (or an ability to obtain same);
- Minimum 3 years acute post graduate nursing experience, or demonstrated skill level;
- 2 years ICU/ ED experience;
- Demonstrate compliance with NSW Health Occupational Vaccine (Cat A Staff);
- Current Police and Working with Children checks (or an ability to obtain same);
- NSW Drivers Licence;
- Eligible for Aviation Security ID Card (ASIC); and
- Ability to undertake a pre-employment medical.
- Any other relevant acute care or emergency skills;
- DETECT and DETECT junior;
- Previous triage experience; or
- Post registration qualifications in a relevant acute area or First Line Emergency Care Course (FLECC) qualifications.
