The generosity of a passionate East Coast community group is helping improve access to dental care for people across the Glamorgan Spring Bay region.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Tasmania has received a $6700 donation from Triabunna's Pop-Up Book Stall (PUBS), with the funding supporting the purchase of new dental equipment for the Flying Doctor's Swansea Dental Clinic.

The gift has funded a range of essential dental instruments and equipment for the Swansea clinic, including extraction instruments, forceps, ultrasonic scalers and specialised endodontic equipment.

RFDS Tasmania Acting Dental Program Coordinator Hollie said the new equipment would help increase treatment capacity, reduce delays between appointments and support improved patient care.

"Many of the patients who come through our doors have not been able to access dental care for some time and often require urgent treatment," Hollie said.

"The additional equipment helps reduce downtime associated with sterilisation and ensures clinicians have the instruments they need readily available.

"Ultimately, that means we can see more patients and provide timely care when it's needed most."

The RFDS Swansea Dental clinic provides oral healthcare for people living across the Glamorgan Spring Bay municipality, delivering 466 occasions of service in 2025-26.

PUBS President, Maryjean Wilson, said supporting organisations that strengthen community wellbeing sits at the heart of the group's mission.

"Our aim is to get money into the community where it's needed," she said.

"There's no point having it sitting in the bank when it can be making a difference for local people.

"We're proud to support RFDS Tasmania and the important work they do for people across the East Coast."

RFDS Tasmania thanked the volunteers, book donors and customers who make the Pop-Up Book Stall possible.

"Every book purchased contributes to better outcomes for our community," Hollie said.

"Community support like this enables us to invest in the equipment our clinicians need and continue delivering high-quality dental care close to home for East Coast residents.

"We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved with PUBS for their ongoing support."

The donation marks the second contribution from PUBS to RFDS Tasmania, bringing the group's total support to $13,200 since 2021.

Established in 2015, Pop-Up Book Stall (PUBS) has become a much-loved community initiative in Triabunna, raising more than $220,000 through the sale of donated second-hand books and reinvesting those funds back into local community projects and organisations.
