The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Tasmania proudly congratulates Caroline Wells on her appointment as the 30th Governor of Tasmania, recognising her outstanding leadership, distinguished service, and unwavering commitment to the Tasmanian community.
A highly respected member of the RFDS Tasmania Board since 2009, and most recently Chair since November 2024, Ms Wells has played a pivotal and enduring role in shaping the organisation’s strategic direction.
Her leadership has guided RFDS Tasmania through a period of significant growth, service expansion, and innovation, strengthening its capacity to deliver vital healthcare to communities across the state.
RFDS Tasmania CEO Nicole Henty said Ms Wells’ appointment is a fitting and well-deserved recognition of her exceptional career and lifelong dedication to improving health and wellbeing outcomes for Tasmanians.
“Caroline has significantly strengthened RFDS’ impact, broadened the reach of our services, and reinforced our commitment to delivering essential healthcare to rural and remote communities,” Ms Henty said.

Ms Wells will step down from her role as Chair in the coming weeks, concluding nearly 18 years of dedicated service to RFDS Tasmania, to allow for a smooth and orderly transition.
Deputy Chair Robin Allardice will assume the position of Chair.
Ms Henty also acknowledged the contribution of outgoing Tasmanian Governor and RFDS Tasmania Patron, Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, thanking her for her valued support and service to the organisation.
