The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is based at the Launceston Airport and was officially formed in 1960. Originally, a sole aeromedical service, the RFDS has grown steadily to now providing a professional and dedicated team who deliver a holistic health care service across most of the local government areas in Tasmania.
We work in partnership with general practitioners, allied health professionals and local service providers to deliver physical health and mental health programs, as well as an award-winning outreach dental program. Our vision is to improve the health outcomes for all Tasmanians with a specific focus on remote and rural areas.
We are one of six RFDS operating sections (Central Operations, QLD section, South Eastern section, Victorian section, Western Operations and Tasmanian section) which makes up RFDS Australia. About the Role
An exciting full-time opportunity exists for a qualified Physical Health Worker who will be based in Scottsdale to commence as soon as possible.
In this role, you will be responsible for improving health outcomes for people living with various health conditions. This will be achieved through supporting health behaviours, promoting mental wellness and increasing health literacy to improve an individual's quality of life.
Reporting to the Team Leader, Physical Health, this position is part of a greater team in Tasmania, including other specialist staff across various RFDS programs. You will have support from the team through regular staff meetings, access to clinical support/advice and team professional development opportunities. About You
For your application to be considered, you must have a qualification in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Health Science or Physiotherapy. You will have demonstrated skills in exercise prescription practice, including assessment and provision of appropriate exercise programs to people with various health conditions. You will have the ability to conduct a needs assessment and planning, as well as the ability to design information and communication sessions.
You will have a thorough knowledge of health services and issues pertaining to people living in rural and remote areas, be able to efficiently identify and resolve issues and work towards deadlines. It would be advantageous for you to understand person-centeredness, health literacy and social determinants of health.
You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to ensure client comfort and confidentiality. You will be organised and be able to work autonomously or as part of a team.
Essential requirements for this position are: Current Drivers Licence, Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration; Current First Aid and CPR Certification, a current National Police Check and up-to-date COVID vaccinations.
