About Us

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) was officially formed in 1960 but has grown steadily from being a sole aeromedical service to now providing a professional and dedicated team who deliver a holistic health care service across most of the local government municipalities in Tasmania.

We work in partnership with general practitioners, allied health professionals and local service providers to deliver physical health and mental health programs, as well as an award-winning outreach dental program. Our vision is to improve the health outcomes for all Tasmanians with a specific focus on remote and rural areas.

We are one of six RFDS operating sections (Central Operations, QLD section, South Eastern section, Victorian section, Western Operations and Tasmania section) which make up RFDS Australia. About the Role


An exciting part-time opportunity has arisen, working four days each week, totaling 30.4 hours per week in our Launceston office. This position reports directly to the CEO and will see the successful incumbent responsible for all facets of website and social media management, media events management, including the preparation of media releases, internal and external newsletters, public speaking, liaising with our public relations company, preparing the annual report, regular reporting and attending events to capture stories and images.

This position will work collaboratively with the RFDS Fundraising Officer and provide coverage for periods of leave and vice versa, when this position takes leave. This will be a busy position, working in accordance with the strict national RFDS brand guidelines.

About You


For your application to be considered, you must have qualifications in media, marketing or communications and demonstrated experience in a similar position. Ideally, we are seeking a passionate and highly motivated individual, who really has their finger on the pulse, and who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

You will also be an excellent communicator (both verbal and written), have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work collaboratively with key stakeholders and build and maintain strong working relationships. You will be professional in your appearance and mannerism.

You will be super organised, have high attention to detail, as well as time management skills, enabling you to meet timeframes and deadlines. You will be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, as well as CRM and social media platforms and generally be tech savvy in your approach to learning new systems. You will also be able to work autonomously or as part of a team.

Further essential requirements for this role are a Tasmanian Drivers Licence, Current First Aid and CPR Certificate, Current National Police Check, Working with Vulnerable People Check and up-to-date COVID- 19 vaccinations.
