Dental Assistant
DENTAL ASSISTANT (CASUAL POSITION / SHORT TERM CONTRACT WORK)
A further opportunity has arisen for an experienced dental assistant to join the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Tasmania community-based mobile dental team to provide dental care to diverse, rural and remote locations across the North West and East Coast of Tasmania.
This role will operate during periods of annual, sick and study leave as well as at intervals to address the high, unmet dental care needs of communities with consideration to funding requirements.
This role involves travel to rural communities to provide dental services and needs a dental assistant who:
> Can work well in a team;
> Can provide good input to improve the RFDS Tasmania Mobile Dental Program;
> Maintains high standards of infection control
> Has strong patient communication skills and good patient care

Duties will include:
> Coordinating appointments and preparing patients for treatment
> Patient care and administration management
> Patient and sterilisation record maintenance
> Assisting Dentist / Therapist to provide quality dental care
> Maintaining a high standard of sterilisation and infection control solutions
> Implementing and adhering to all policies and program evaluation
To be successful you need to possess:
> Certificate 3 or 4 in Dental Assisting
> Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Dental Assistant
> Current Drivers Licence;
> Current Working with Vulnerable People Card; and
> Current First AID with CPR, Hand Hygiene Certificate; and
> Current immunisation records.
The RFDS Tasmania Mobile Dental service is a vital link to the provision of high quality oral health promotion to our rural population. This role requires you to exercise the highest standards of patient care, infection control and the ability to adapt to a diverse rural setting and program design.
