Going to the dentist is rarely something we look forward to. Yet for many people in Perenjori, Mingenew and Morawa, it used to be a luxury.

Dentists were often hours away and unaffordable. Sometimes these Midwest residents were even hospitalised with dental conditions.

Fast forward and the Royal Flying Doctor Service has been partnering with Karara Mining to deliver a state-of-the-art Mobile Dental Clinic in these Shires. The dental van was purchased and equipped by Karara Ming and is driven between locations by their passionate employees.

Karara Mining General Manager People and Organisation, Sarah Terrell, said: “Karara Mining is proud to partner with the RFDS to bring essential dental healthcare services to the people of Perenjori, Mingenew and Morawa.”

In the last four years our regular dental service has treated 2,287 people, including over 300 children.

RFDS Dental Assistant, Wendy Andrews, sees first-hand how much the Mobile Dental Clinic means to these communities.

“We have people coming up to us in the street saying ‘we’re so happy you guys are back,’” Wendy said.
