The Royal Flying Doctor Service are looking for a Workplace Health, Safety & Environment Specialist committed to supporting a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible workplace for RFDS employees through safety leadership, collaborative work practices and timely advice.



About you


- Qualifications in Workplace Health, Safety and Environment (WHSE) management.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in WHSE and risk management.
- Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of Workplace Health & Safety legislation and Australian Standards to identify and implement safe work solutions, and promoting a culture focused on safety.
- Proven track record in building and sustaining partnerships, negotiating and influencing at all levels to produce practical outcomes within the legislative and business environment.
- Demonstrated experience in injury management, workers’ compensation and return to work coordination
- Understanding of contemporary and emerging WHSE risks and issues.
- Well-developed analytical skills.
- Experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, incident investigations and providing practical guidance for workable solutions.


About the role


- Manage, review, and seek the continual improvement of the WHSE Management System in alignment to legislative requirements and industry best practices,
- Provide strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team regarding WHSE matters
- Promote and influence a positive safety culture in all RFDS WO workplaces and activities including periodic attendance at toolbox & team meetings.
- Provide leadership to the Workplace Health and Safety Advisor
- Manage and improve RFDS WHSE management systems
- Conduct WHSE incident investigations
- Support the Risk Management Framework of the organisation
- Contribute to development, management and improvement of emergency management plans
- Develop, implement and improve the hazardous substances management system
- Develop, implement and manage Workers’ Compensation and Return to Work processes
